The conference was co-hosted by Adelphi University School of Business, the Institute for the Study of Coherence and Emergence, publishers of the journal Emergence: Complexity and Organization, and the Plexus Institute, an organization devoted to the improvement of healthcare using the tools of complexity theory.

The program for this two and a half day conference consisted of presentations, panel discussions and informal conversations among experts and other interested parties representing projects and interests from thirty countries scattered across six continents. Look for selected papers from the conference to be published in a Special Issue of the journal Emergence: Complexity and Organization (E:CO) published by ISCE Publishing later in 2008. In addition, the discussion from the conference will be continued in an edited volume also published by ISCE Publishing to be out toward the end of 2008.
